Hubbard's own 1908 narrative anchors the expedition departure verbatim: "It was 3.15 P.M., July 27th, when the last details of preparation were completed, and we were ready to start, with all Northwest River to see us off." The 2005 MQUP volume publishes the unguarded expedition diary on which the 1908 book is based.
