Corner Brook grew up around its pulp-and-paper mill: "when the pulp and paper mill was constructed during the early 1920s the company created an entire town to provide accommodations for their employees." The town's Townsite quarter, designed by Halifax architect Andrew Cobb, was completed in 1925 to house the workers of what was then one of the largest paper mills in the world. source
