Flanker Press began as a part-time venture in 1994 and has grown into Newfoundland and Labrador's most active publisher of trade books, averaging twenty new titles per year, with a heavy emphasis on regional non-fiction and historical fiction. The press's stated mission is to provide a quality publishing service to the local and regional writing community and to actively promote its authors and their books in Canada and abroad. In the fall of 2004, Flanker launched its Pennywell Books imprint, which publishes literary fiction, short stories, young adult fiction, and children's books. The company is based in Paradise, NL, and now employs eight full-time staff. Source: Flanker Press About page. source
